Biography

Elias Towe is the Albert and Ethel Grobstein Professor and University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he also serves as the Director of the National Science Foundation's Quantum Computing Information Technologies (QCiT) Center. Towe joined Carnegie Mellon in late 2001 after serving as a Program Manager at DARPA, where he led programs in photonics and electronics, including the VLSI Photonics Program and large-scale optical interconnect programs. His group's research emphasizes the construction of test beds featuring quantum processors based on quantum-dot qubits and quantum networks for sensing and communication.
