Dr. Elie Azar

Biography

Elie Azar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University, where he holds a Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Buildings and Communities (Tier II). He obtained his B.Eng. from Polytechnique Montréal and his MSc. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on human-centered building design and operation, urban sustainability, resilience, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort behavior. He is particularly interested in building performance simulation, agent-based modeling, and data-driven modeling using machine learning techniques. Prof. Azar has a robust teaching portfolio, including courses such as Introduction to Building Performance Simulation and Green Building Design.
