Professor Dr. Elif Härkönen

Biography

Elif Härkönen is a distinguished legal scholar and Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, specializing in Securities Law, Banking & Finance Law, Corporate Law, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her research is centered on the intersection of law and innovation, particularly focusing on the emerging challenges presented by FinTech, corporate sustainability, and sustainable finance. With a PhD in Civil Law from Gothenburg University, she also holds an LL.M. in International Law from Tulane Law School. Elif has a strong international education background and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, certified in Canadian law. Her teaching includes courses related to securities law and banking & finance law. Throughout her career, Elif has made significant contributions to academic and policy discussions on topics such as digital resilience in banking regulation, climate change risk management, and corporate liability for human rights violations. Her published works reflect her expertise in both global and Nordic legal systems, addressing critical issues that bridge academic insight with practical relevance.
