Currently, she is investigating the existence of vector-like quarks which may indicate the presence of Higgs bosons as elementary particles. Kuutmann has held various academic positions, including DESY fellow and post-doctoral researcher at Humboldt University in Berlin. She became an Associate Senior Lecturer at Uppsala University in 2014, was appointed as Docent in particle physics in 2019, and became a Senior Lecturer the same year.
