Biography

Eline started her academic career in the Netherlands with an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences from the University of Groningen, where she developed an interest in the field of Regenerative Medicine. She pursued a postgraduate degree in Regenerative Medicine at the University of Utrecht. Subsequently, she was awarded a 4-year PhD studentship from the British Heart Foundation, which led her to the University of Glasgow. There, she studies how small, engineered heart tissues integrate with the myocardium after implantation. Currently, Eline is a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow and is part of the Glasgow Cardiac Research Centre. She is also involved with the British Heart Foundation Centre for Regenerative Medicine, a collaborative network of UK universities focused on addressing major challenges in cardiac regeneration to develop new cell therapies for patients who have suffered heart attacks. Her research interests encompass imaging data, arrhythmias, cardiac remodelling, heart failure, and ischaemic heart disease.
