Dr. Elisabeth Carlstedt

Biography

Elisabeth Carlstedt is a Postdoctoral fellow and Senior lecturer at Lund University, specializing in the School of Social Work. Her research focuses on the organizational practices of residential care facilities, particularly how they present themselves to attract customers in the welfare market. Carlstedt conducts interviews with representatives from care facilities, case managers, and end-users to analyze how these organizations create legitimacy through their presentation strategies. Her doctoral studies investigated the display and purpose of presentations in nursing homes, examining their role in shaping perceptions versus reality. Carlstedt's work is informed by a new institutionalist perspective that views organizations as sensitive to societal norms and expectations, with a significant interest in understanding how presentations manage organizational impressions in a marketized eldercare context. She contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through her expertise in social sciences and eldercare, aiming to tackle the complexities brought on by marketization in the welfare sector.
