Biography

Elisabeth Gerber is the Jack L. Walker Jr. Professor of Public Policy at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, where she also completed her M.A. and B.A. degrees in Political Science. Gerber's research and teaching focus on urban, regional, and metropolitan policy, with particular emphasis on sustainability, transportation, water policy, climate adaptation, and community and economic development. She has significant experience in leadership roles, having served as Vice-Chair on the founding Board of the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan (2013-2017) and as a Board Member for both the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority and the Washtenaw Housing Alliance. A recognized scholar, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2012.
