Biography

Elisabeth J. Nicol is a professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Guelph, specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics. With a B.Sc. in Honours Physics from Mount Allison University, she continued her education with an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics from McMaster University. Her academic career began as a lecturer at McMaster University in 1991, and she has also served as a postdoctoral fellow at both McMaster University and the University of California, Santa Barbara. Nicol has held various positions at the University of Guelph, transitioning from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, and finally to Professor since 2004. She is affiliated with the Brockhouse Institute of Materials Research and the Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics. Her research focuses on areas such as superconductivity and Dirac materials, specifically investigating graphene and other quantum materials.
