Biography

Elisabeth Perham is a lecturer at the School of Global and Public Law at the University of New South Wales, specializing in comparative constitutional law. Her research interests include constitution-making, constitutional transfers, small state constitutionalism, and gender in constitutions, focusing on public law in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Elisabeth undertook her undergraduate law studies at Te Herenga Waka | Victoria University of Wellington and holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School, where she was a Frank Knox Memorial Fellow, and a PhD in Law from UNSW. Her doctoral research examined the role of external constitutional advisors in constitution-making processes, particularly in small island states in Oceania. Elisabeth has held various positions, including a Visiting Fellow in the Laureate Program in Comparative Constitutional Law at Melbourne Law School and a visiting researcher at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies at the National University of Singapore. She is a member of the Executive Committee for ICON-S Australia and the New Zealand Chapter as well as the Co-Director of the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law at UNSW. Her teaching includes courses on public law, Federal Constitutional Law, and Comparative Constitutional Law.
