Biography

Elisabetta De Cao is an Assistant Professor in Health Economics at the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She also holds positions as an Associate Member at the MiSoC at the University of Essex and a Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. Furthermore, she is a Research Affiliate at Bocconi University. Her main research interests lie in health economics and family economics, with a particular focus on global health issues. Current research projects include examining determinants of children’s health and human capital development, the impact of early life shocks on outcomes, and violence against women and children. Dr. De Cao employs causal inference methods and micro-data from the UK and developing countries, particularly in Africa, to investigate her research questions. Some of her ongoing projects look at the effects of unemployment on child maltreatment in the United States and the impact of economic recession on infants’ health in England.
