Professor Bant holds joint bachelor degrees in Arts and Law (hons) from the University of Western Australia, as well as a Bachelor of Civil Law with distinction and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford, where she was a Clarendon scholar. She practiced commercial litigation at the national law firm Freehills before joining the University of Western Australia Law School. After teaching as a visiting scholar at Oxford and at Melbourne Law School in 2008, she re-joined UWA Law School in 2020. Professor Bant’s main areas of teaching and research include unjust enrichment, restitution law, property law, contract law, consumer law, corporate responsibility, civil remedies, and equity trusts. She is the author of "Change Position Defence" (Hart Publishing, Oxford, 2009) and co-author of "Unjust Enrichment" (Hart Publishing, Oxford, 2016). Additionally, she is the general editor of the Journal of Equity and has published over 80 articles and chapters in specialist fields. Professor Bant has received several Australian Research Council grants for various research projects, including examining corporate liability for serious civil misconduct.
