Biography

Eliseo Guallar is a prominent epidemiologist renowned for his research in the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, with a particular emphasis on evaluating the role of environmental and nutritional exposures in the development of cardiovascular conditions. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of risk factors for chronic diseases on a global scale. Guallar has published numerous seminal articles and is a leading figure in the emerging field of research evaluating the risks associated with exposure to metals that were previously deemed safe for cardiovascular health. Beyond toxic metals, his work also includes substantial contributions to the understanding of micronutrients and vitamin supplements in relation to cardiovascular disease risk. His research has attracted funding from prestigious organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and the CDC. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed research papers and served as Deputy Editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
