Biography

Elisha Clark Halpin received an MFA in Dance from Ohio State University and currently serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Penn State University, where she leads courses in movement, somatics, and dance. Her research centers on consciousness, mindful movement, embodied practices, memory, trauma, and place. Elisha is an affiliate member of the Arts Design Research Incubator (ADRI) at Penn State. Her project, 'Feminine Eternal,' was presented during her residence at Borland Project Space in Fall 2015. Elisha's work has been showcased in various cities including Baltimore, Brockport, Buffalo, Columbus, Washington D.C., Madison, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Richmond. Additionally, she has worked internationally in countries such as Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, and Netherlands. Elisha has received funding from the College of Arts and Architecture, PA Council on the Arts, Institute of Arts and Humanities, the President's Fund at Penn State, and the Doris Duke Foundation. She was recognized as the Emerging Choreographer at the Bates Dance Festival and has been a commissioned artist for Dance New Amsterdam, receiving the College's Award for Teaching Excellence.
