Dr. Elissa Jelalian

Biography

Elissa Jelalian is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Pediatrics at Brown University, where she also serves as the Director of the Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program. She is the Associate Director of the Weight Control Diabetes Research Center at Miriam Hospital. Dr. Jelalian's research primarily focuses on weight regulation and the development of behavioral interventions for children and adolescents who are overweight or obese. Her current studies concentrate on the dissemination of evidence-based pediatric weight control interventions in community settings, exploring novel interventions for adolescents and identifying early obesity risk factors in young children. She has received multiple grants from organizations such as NIH and CDC for her research initiatives. Dr. Jelalian has been involved in various funded projects aimed at understanding and addressing factors contributing to pediatric obesity, including the implementation of weight control strategies in low-resource communities.
