Dr. Eliz Sanasarian

Biography

Eliz Sanasarian is a Professor of Political Science at USC Dornsife and a Research Associate at the Center for Religion and Civic Culture. She is also a Faculty Associate in the Gender Studies Program. Her notable works include 'Religious Minorities in Iran' published by Cambridge University Press in 2000, and a pivotal study of the Women's Rights Movement in Iran, detailing its historical and sociopolitical context. Additionally, she edited the Persian translation of her work on women’s rights in Iran, 'Jonbesh-e Hoquq-e Zanan Dar Iran: Toqian, Ofool va Sarkoob az 1280 ta Enqelab-e 57' in 2005, which received acclaim and prizes for its critical insights. Sanasarian's research intersects with themes of gender, political rights, and the dynamics of minority populations in sociopolitical frameworks, contributing significantly to the understanding of women's issues in Iran and the Middle East.
