Dr. Eliza Kinsey

Biography

Eliza Kinsey holds a position as an Assistant Professor in Medical Ethics and Health Policy, as well as in Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine. She has a background as an urban planner and is a social epidemiologist with research interests at the intersection of unmet social needs and the built environment in public health. Dr. Kinsey's current research focuses on the impact of food insecurity and poverty on child and maternal health across the life course. Additionally, she investigates how neighborhood food environments relate to obesity and chronic disease, as well as the influence of food assistance policies on dietary quality and health status. Her work emphasizes policy translation, aiming to produce research findings that contribute to the development of data-driven policies intended to enhance population health. Dr. Kinsey earned her PhD in City and Regional Planning and a Master of Public Health from the University of Pennsylvania, along with a Master of Science in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition from Tufts University. She has completed postdoctoral training in Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.
