Biography

Elizabeth Acorn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. She completed her PhD in Government at Cornell University, where her dissertation examined the criminalization of bribery in international business. Her research utilizes legal research, archival analysis, and semi-structured interviews to compare the operation of laws in advanced industrial economies. In addition to her doctoral studies, she practiced law for several years, specializing in commercial litigation and internal investigations, and has been admitted to practice in New York (2008) and Ontario (2012). Acorn has published work in the UBC Law Review and is currently working on a book manuscript that examines the evolution of international law in combating bribery in business. Before joining the department, she served as a Postdoctoral Associate and Lecturer in Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale University.
