Dr. Elizabeth Badley

Biography

Elizabeth M. Badley is a Professor Emerita at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She has been instrumental in researching epidemiology, particularly focusing on chronic and disabling conditions, as well as musculoskeletal conditions including arthritis. Over her distinguished career, she has held various significant positions such as Senior Scientist and Epidemiologist at the Toronto Western Research Institute and Director of the Arthritis Community Research Evaluation Unit. Badley's research interests also include the provision of services in arthritis rehabilitation and the effects of socioeconomic status, gender, and age on health outcomes. She has been involved in several major research projects focused on health and functioning related to arthritis. Her contributions to the field include numerous publications addressing the clarity of health classifications and comparative studies of arthritis-related activity limitations across countries. Badley has received recognition for her contributions, including the Anthony Miller Award for Excellence in Research in Public Health from the University of Toronto. Throughout her career, she has also been an educator, teaching courses on epidemiology and serving as a course coordinator.
