Biography

Elizabeth Black is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Informatics at King’s College London, where she also serves as the Director of the NMES Graduate School. An expert in model-based artificial intelligence (AI), her research interests primarily focus on Safe and Trusted AI systems, intelligent agents, and multi-agent systems. She has been actively involved in various research groups and international conferences, including the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Safe and Trusted AI. Her academic journey includes a PhD from University College London, with a research focus on argument inquiry dialogues. Prior to her tenure at King's in 2011, Elizabeth worked as a post-doctoral research assistant at the University of Oxford and held a Marie-Curie Fellowship at the University of Utrecht. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has contributed numerous peer-reviewed papers to prestigious journals and conferences covering frameworks in AI reasoning, planning, and ethical implications of AI technologies.
