Dr. Elizabeth Borycki

Biography

Elizabeth Borycki is a Professor in the School of Health Information Science at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She has extensive expertise in health informatics, with a specific focus on human factors, workflow usability, and implementation science. Her research has significantly contributed to the understanding of technology strategies and implementation evaluations in healthcare settings. Elizabeth has authored over 250 articles and 40 book chapters, highlighting her influential role in the field of health informatics. As a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the American Medical Informatics Association, she has been recognized as a leader in health technology safety, user interface design, and virtual care. Her leadership roles have included Director of the Social Dimensions of Health program and member of the University of Victoria Board of Governors. Elizabeth has also been involved with international organizations, serving as the Vice President representing North America on the Board of Directors for the International Medical Informatics Association and chairing several working groups focusing on patient safety and smart home technologies. She was voted as one of the Top 10 Women in Digital Health by Digital Health Canada in 2017 and received the Faculty of Human and Social Development Award for Teaching Excellence in 2018.
