Dr. Elizabeth Burner

Biography

Elizabeth Burner is an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and Research Director at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She joined the faculty in 2013 and has worked clinically in the emergency department at Los Angeles General Medical Center. Dr. Burner's research focuses on emergent health communication tools that reach high-need patient groups, particularly those addressing substance use disorders and chronic diseases. Her work involves conducting mixed methods research to understand the viewpoints of high-need populations, with a specific focus on those who seek care at the Los Angeles General Medical Center Emergency Department. Dr. Burner's funding includes support from NIH and various local grants, highlighting her role as a KL2/Mentored Career Development Program awardee from 2013 to 2016. She has an extensive publication record in academic emergency medicine and regularly presents her findings in peer-reviewed journals.
