Biography

Dr. Cowley received her BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology from University College London in 1989 and completed her PhD at the University of Leicester in 1993. She undertook postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco, McGill University, and Dalhousie University. Dr. Cowley joined the faculty of Dalhousie University in 2003. Her research focuses on the role of oxidative stress in lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis. She aims to understand the fundamental biological mechanisms underlying oxidative stress and use that knowledge to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
