Dr. Elizabeth Deloughrey

Biography

Elizabeth DeLoughrey is a professor in the Department of English at UCLA, where she specializes in postcolonial and Indigenous literature with a focus on environmental issues. Her research interests encompass the Anthropocene, critical ocean studies, and Caribbean and Pacific Island literatures. DeLoughrey is the author of notable works including 'Routes and Roots: Navigating Caribbean Pacific Literatures' and 'Allegories of the Anthropocene,' which examine the intersection of climate change and literature. She has co-edited several important volumes, such as 'Postcolonial Ecologies: Literatures of the Environment' and 'Global Ecologies and Environmental Humanities: Postcolonial Approaches.' Her scholarship has received funding from prestigious organizations such as the American Council of Learned Societies and the Fulbright New Zealand Program. In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for the term 2021-22.
