Biography

Elizabeth A. Donnelly is a Professor in the School of Social Work. Before pursuing her PhD, she spent years practicing in community hospital crisis stabilization units and addressing mental illness and chemical dependence. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Minnesota. Her research interests focus on the intersection of mental health and response services involving law enforcement, firefighters, and paramedics. Specifically, she researches the impact of different types of work-related stress on paramedics and the factors contributing to the development of operational stress injuries (OSIs), as well as practices to ameliorate stress. Dr. Donnelly is additionally interested in research on curriculum development to enhance the training of responders for treating patients in behavioral emergencies. Certified as a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician since 1999, she has worked in emergency medical services in Minnesota, Florida, and Michigan.
