Biography

Elizabeth Ellison is a Visiting Fellow at the Science Centre for Marine Science & Innovation at the Australian National University. She specializes in oceanography and focuses on the role of mesoscale and submesoscale features in Southern Ocean biogeochemistry. Her research utilizes high-resolution models of the Southern Ocean, incorporating biogeochemical cycles. Elizabeth completed her PhD at Imperial College London in the summer of 2023, where she examined the role of small-scale vertical turbulent mixing on Southern Ocean biogeochemical cycles. She has also worked with data assimilating models to study changes in biological productivity and carbon fluxes, adjusting parameterizations for mixing processes. Prior to her PhD, Elizabeth obtained a Master's degree in Oceanography from the National Oceanography Centre at the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences from Durham University.
