Dr. Elizabeth Gardner

Biography

Elizabeth Gardner, MD, is an Associate Professor in Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Yale University School of Medicine, specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy. She graduated from Yale University in 2001 with a BA in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and later earned her MD from Emory University in 2007. Dr. Gardner completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2012 and underwent fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the University of Michigan in 2013. She has a robust background in athletics, having been a two-sport varsity athlete at Yale, and has served as Head Team Physician for Yale University Athletics, working with various teams including the Men's Lacrosse team, which won the 2018 National Championship. Dr. Gardner is committed to educating athletes on injury prevention and rehabilitation to help them return to their sports as quickly as possible. Her research interest includes minimally invasive surgical techniques and injury prevention strategies in sports. Additionally, she actively collaborates with multiple co-authors on various publications in the field, significantly contributing to the academic community in orthopaedic sports medicine.
