Biography

Elizabeth E. Hatch, PhD, is an adjunct professor at Boston University, specializing in epidemiology within the School of Public Health. Her research primarily focuses on exposures that relate to fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Hatch is the principal investigator on multiple NIH-funded studies that evaluate factors affecting reproductive health. She collaborates with Dr. Wise on a five-year study to combine data from a Danish cohort study with the PRESTO (Pregnancy Study Online) cohort in North America. This study uses internet-based recruitment and follow-up to investigate elements that contribute to fertility, miscarriage, and adverse pregnancy outcomes, with a particular emphasis on dietary and medication influences. She also evaluates the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals on fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Hatch's teaching includes cancer epidemiology, drawing from her extensive research into various cancer sites, including brain cancer and childhood leukemia, as well as her prior experience with the National Cancer Institute, where she led significant cohort studies. She is a member of the Boston University Nutrition Obesity Research Center and is involved in ongoing research related to the fundamental issues in reproductive health and environmental exposures.
