Biography

Elizabeth Ingleson specializes in the histories of foreign relations, with a focus on US-China relations, capitalism, and labor. She is the author of 'Made in China: How US-China Interests Converged to Transform Global Trade', published by Harvard University Press. Ingleson has published several articles and chapters on topics related to US-China relations and capitalism. Currently, she is working on a book under contract with Bloomsbury Academic, titled 'China and the United States 1949: An International History'. She serves on the Management Committee of LSE’s Phelan Centre and is the Membership Secretary for the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR). Before her current role, Ingleson held fellowships at several prestigious institutions, including Yale University and the University of Virginia’s Miller Center. She earned her PhD in history from the University of Sydney and has significant expertise in US history, Chinese history, trade, labor, and diplomacy. She teaches courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
