Biography

Elizabeth Kuzma is a Clinical Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of APRN Academic Programs at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). Dr. Kuzma is dedicated to serving vulnerable, underserved populations, with a focus on high Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) youth. She provides holistic, trauma-informed primary care that promotes health and manages both acute and chronic conditions. Her teaching encompasses graduate level clinical courses for Adult-Gero Family Nurse Practitioner students and she also acts as a clinical preceptor, mentoring students throughout their nursing program. Dr. Kuzma's research interests include adolescent health issues, trauma, and gender identity, aimed at integrating these topics into nurse practitioner education. She is actively engaged in professional policy advocacy at local, state, and national levels, having previously served as a state representative for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) in Michigan. Currently, she is involved in multiple research grants focusing on health equity, policy development, and advanced practice nursing education.
