Dr. Elizabeth Livingston

Biography

Elizabeth Gresham Livingston is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University. She has extensive academic and clinical expertise in the area of HIV infection during pregnancy. Since 1988, she has participated in various clinical trials including the AIDS Clinical Trials Group and the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network. Her specific research interests focus on the complications of medical and surgical treatments for HIV-infected pregnant women, where she has served as the principal investigator on multiple clinical trial protocols. Dr. Livingston has a long-standing affiliation with Duke’s Adult and Pediatric Infectious Disease clinics, where she is involved in the research and clinical management of mothers and their infants. Additionally, her clinical expertise encompasses diabetes care during pregnancy and high-risk obstetrics. Active in medical education, she contributes to the training of medical students and residents. Dr. Livingston has received various grants aimed at improving HIV services for women, infants, and children and has been a key member in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, participating fully in research efforts and patient recruitment for clinical trials.
