Biography

Elizabeth (Liz) Guerrero Lyons serves as the Associate Director of the Leadership Rural Medicine Program and is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She is the course director for 'The Impact Story: Discovering Journey Impacts Practice' and co-leads the elective 'Racism Disparities Healthcare'. Dr. Lyons' scholarship focuses on narrative medicine, multicultural education, and mentorship for racially minoritized students, as well as pre-college pathway programming for pre-health students. She is actively involved as a faculty advisor for the Latin American Native American Medical Association (LANAMA) and the Rural Health Interest Group (RHIG) at Michigan State University. Dr. Lyons completed her Master's degree in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education Administration, followed by an Ed.D. in K-12 Administration from Michigan State University. She recognizes the importance of validating relationships in supporting medical students of color throughout their training, which is essential for their success and well-being.
