Biography

Dr. Pavlisko holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Clemson University and received her M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Duke University, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Pavlisko joined the faculty at Duke University in 2011 as an Assistant Professor in Pathology and has developed significant expertise in thoracic and cardiovascular transplant pathology, as well as postmortem examination. She is currently the Chief of the Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology Section. Her clinical work includes pulmonary, thoracic, and cardiovascular pathology, as well as biomarker testing and autopsy pathology. Her primary research focuses on malignant mesothelioma and chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), and she has published over 65 manuscripts and 6 book chapters on occupational diseases of the lungs and pleura. She has been involved in various clinical trials and is an active member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Dr. Pavlisko serves as the Medical Director of the Division of Anatomic Pathology Digital Analytics (DAPDA) Laboratory at Duke, focusing on Histology, Immunohistochemistry, and FISH.
