Biography

Elizabeth Petrie is a Lecturer in the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences at the University of Glasgow, where her research focuses on utilizing Global Satellite Systems (GNSS) to measure land motion with millimetric precision. She engages in precise GPS processing applications and interprets results through timeseries analysis and offset detection of non-ideal timeseries. A significant aspect of her work includes understanding vertical movement related to sea level change and glacial isostatic adjustment. Elizabeth is also dedicated to enhancing the measurement of land motion by improving the capabilities of precise GPS processing while addressing the challenges of higher-order ionospheric effects. She is actively involved in the GES SPACE research group and contributes to scholarship in teaching and learning in higher education. Additionally, Elizabeth is interested in adapting Generative AI within her academic field. Beyond her research, she teaches courses on GNSS and Geodesy in MSc programs and is open to supervising potential PhD and Masters research students interested in related topics.
