Dr. Elizabeth Philipone

Biography

Elizabeth Marie Philipone, DMD, is an Associate Professor of Dental Medicine in Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Medical Center. Her clinical research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of oral mucosal diseases, including vesiculobullous conditions, viral and fungal infections, and pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the oral cavity. Dr. Philipone has published extensively in dental and medical literature and has taught oral pathology at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She also serves as the Director of the Oral Pathology Residency Program at her institution, contributing to the education and training of future specialists in the field. Her expertise lies in Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, and she is actively involved in various professional organizations, including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Philipone is recognized for her commitment to teaching and has received the prestigious Edward J. Zegarelli Teaching Award from Columbia University, College of Dental Medicine.
