Biography

Elizabeth Pino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She has a PhD in biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine and a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Carnegie Mellon University. Her current research primarily focuses on clinical temporal trends and health outcomes related to public health consequences of firearm violence, including the short- and long-term effects of violent injury survivorship. Pino also explores the long-term consequences for patients undergoing treatment for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, as well as outcomes in maternal health and depression. Prior to joining Boston University, she served as a research scientist and data manager at the Boston Medical Center's Violence Intervention Advocacy Program. Her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital involved conducting a genome-wide screen to identify novel gene networks critical for starvation survival. Elizabeth Pino is trained as a molecular biologist and geneticist.
