Biography

Elizabeth Straus is an Assistant Professor at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing, Toronto Metropolitan University. They completed their PhD in Nursing at the University of British Columbia in 2022, focusing on critical narrative inquiry related to young adults living at home with mechanical ventilation. As a queer, autistic, disabled nurse scholar and educator, Dr. Straus advocates for equity and inclusivity, particularly within neurodivergent and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Their teaching and research involve qualitative research methods, community health, and disability studies, aimed at promoting diverse voices and perspectives within health care, education, and community settings. They are actively engaged in collaborative research projects to co-develop opportunities for individuals with lived experience in research initiatives.
