Dr. Elizabeth Trowbridge

Biography

Elizabeth Trowbridge, MD, is a Clinical Professor of General Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has a substantial background in leadership positions, having served as the Interim Chair of the Department of Medicine from November 2018 to February 2020. As a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Trowbridge was recognized with the Helen Dickie Award for Outstanding Woman Physician in 2017. Her pivotal role in the primary care redesign effort at UW Health showcases her commitment to innovative healthcare models, including the development of a population-based compensation strategy. As co-director of PATH (Primary Care Academics Transforming Healthcare), she leads multi-disciplinary efforts to improve care delivery through educational innovations. Dr. Trowbridge has also held significant roles within several medical boards and committees, including the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation Board and the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Authority Board. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine and heart disease prevention, with research focused on quality innovation and leadership in primary care settings.
