Dr. Elizabeth Tutton

Biography

Elizabeth Tutton is a Senior Research Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford. She is involved in multidisciplinary research focusing on patient experiences and qualitative methods in healthcare, particularly concerning illness and injury. Her recent work investigates various aspects of patient and carer experiences related to trauma and recovery, with specific attention to hope, compassion, and the lived experiences of individuals suffering from acute traumatic injuries. Her methodological approach includes mixed methods, emphasizing phenomenology and ethnography. Elizabeth's research contributes to understanding the complexities of healthcare from diverse perspectives, including those of patients, families, and carers. Through her affiliations, including the Oxford Trauma team and as an Honorary Research Fellow at Warwick Medical School, she actively engages in advancing knowledge and improving practices in trauma care and research.
