Dr. Elizabeth Valmont

Biography

Elizabeth Valmont is a Lecturer at the University of Southern California's School of Architecture with 15 years of experience in the acoustic design engineering field. Her expertise focuses on room acoustics, exterior and interior noise control, and building systems noise vibration. As an active project director and project manager, she has worked on multidisciplinary projects across various sectors, including entertainment, arts and culture, hospitality, mixed-use commercial, healthcare, education, and transportation. At Arup, Elizabeth has held positions such as discipline leader for Acoustics, Audiovisual, and Theater, as well as Market Leader for Entertainment, Arts & Culture. Additionally, she serves as the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion leader for the Los Angeles office. Her contributions to the field have been recognized by popular outlets, including Popular Mechanics and BBC. Elizabeth is also a board member of the Southern California Development Forum and an active member of the Acoustic Working Group, where she supports the Healthcare Guidelines Revision Committee. She earned her PhD in Architecture and has taught courses related to sound, light, and building science systems at USC for over 15 years.
