Professor Dr. Elizabeth Walkowiak

Biography

Elizabeth H. Walkowiak is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing with a focus on brains malignancies, caregiver stress, and quality-of-life promotion for patients. With a background in gerontological nurse practitioner training, she has dedicated her professional career to the U-M Department of Neurosurgery, where she assists patients with brain tumors and metastasis. Her work involves guiding patients through their treatment journeys, particularly in preoperative and postoperative settings, while also managing radiosurgery treatments. A passionate educator, Elizabeth frequently speaks at nursing conferences and provides mentorship to new nurse practitioners and students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. She has been an active member of several professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau and the Michigan Nurses Association, and has received notable awards such as the John Hartford Scholarship and the Angell Scholar Award from the University of Michigan.
