Biography

Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice at Brown University's School of Public Health. She is a health services researcher with a focus on care quality outcomes in long-term care. Dr. White's primary research interest lies in understanding the factors that affect the nursing primary care workforce and their impact on care delivery and health outcomes among older adults, particularly those with dementia residing in nursing homes. She has played a significant role in the development of large-scale, NIA-sponsored infrastructure projects aimed at making new data sources available, including the Long-Term Care Data Cooperative and the National Dementia Workforce Study, to support enhanced research on care outcomes for nursing home residents with dementia. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. White led multiple teams to examine treatment outcomes in nursing homes. She has completed both AHRQ T32 postdoctoral and NINR T32 predoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. In addition to her research, Dr. White is an adult geriatric primary care nurse practitioner with extensive clinical experience in long-term and primary care, currently practicing in Brown Medicine's Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.
