Dr. Elko Klijn

Biography

Elko Klijn obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom in 2006, and holds an MBA degree (cum laude) in General Management from the same university. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the Netherlands. His research focuses primarily on governance and strategic alliances, particularly board directors, joint ventures, board composition, tasks, characteristics, responsibilities, and their influence on alliance outcomes. His work has been published in prominent academic journals including the British Journal of Management, Global Strategy Journal, and the Journal of Management Studies, as well as in practitioner-oriented outlets such as Long Range Planning and the European Business Review. Additionally, Elko serves as an editor for a book on alliance governance. He teaches Bachelor courses such as Strategy Environment and International Strategy, and Master courses in both full-time and part-time programs, including Strategy Control Design and Research Methods, respectively. Elko is also actively involved in ancillary activities related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to global efforts to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.
