Dr. Ella Sieradzki

Biography

Ella Tali Sieradzki is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at Aarhus University in the Department of Agroecology, specializing in microbial ecology. Her research interests include the study of microbial communities, viral ecology, biogeochemical cycles, and the soil microbiome. She has a strong background in marine microbiology, having obtained her PhD with a focus on community-wide trophic functions elucidated through multi-omics data at the University of Southern California. Sieradzki has collaborated on various projects regarding the impact of viruses on habitat and carbon sequestration, contributing significantly to understanding soil virus interactions. Beyond her academic role, she co-supervises Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral researchers, further bridging her expertise with international collaborations. Sieradzki has held postdoctoral positions at prestigious institutions, including the Ecole Centrale de Lyon and the University of California, where her focus has included environmental microbiology and bioinformatics. As of 2025, she will lead a project titled "MeMori: Quantifying Temporal Dynamics of Viral Mortality in Soil to Assess Carbon Sequestration." Sieradzki is actively disseminating her findings through various workshops and media engagements, reflecting her commitment to advancing the field of microbial ecology.
