Dr. Ellen Badone

Biography

Ellen Elizabeth Faye Badone is a Professor Emeritus in the field of Religious Studies at McMaster University. Over the past decades, her research has focused on the social, emotional, and bodily experiences of crisis and healing. Her initial fieldwork, conducted in Brittany, France, from 1983 to 1984, centered on the interpretations surrounding death and dying. Badone is particularly interested in how Breton responses to death have evolved alongside social changes in the region since 1945. Her expertise encompasses anthropology, religion, and religious studies, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of these areas within the academic sphere.
