Dr. Ellen Meade

Biography

Ellen Meade joined the Department of Economics at Duke University as a Research Professor in July 2022. Prior to this role, she spent 25 years at the Federal Reserve Board, including serving as a Special Adviser to the Fed Board Governors under Vice Chair Richard Clarida and as a Senior Adviser in the Division of Monetary Affairs. From 2011 to 2021, she primarily focused on monetary policy communications and played a key role in the Federal Reserve’s new framework for monetary policy. Throughout her career in academia and government, Meade has contributed significantly to the field of economics, with a particular emphasis on monetary policy and its implications. She has published various articles that explore critical issues in the profession, including author representation and research topics in prominent economics journals.
