Ellen M. Rathje is a Professor and the Janet S. Cockrell Centennial Chair in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a senior research scientist at the Bureau of Economic Geology. Her research interests include seismic site response analysis, seismic slope stability, earthquake-induced ground failure, and remote sensing applications. She is a principal investigator in the development of the DesignSafe cyberinfrastructure, part of NSF's Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure. Additionally, Rathje plays a key role in the TexNet Seismic Monitoring Program and has served on various committees related to earthquake engineering. Over her career, she has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Peck Award Lecture from the Geo-Institute of ASCE and the Huber Research Prize. She was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2016.
