Biography

Ellie Abrons is a licensed architect and principal of T+E+A+M. She serves as the Director of the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan and is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, where she was an Alfred Taubman Fellow from 2009 to 2010. Her research and creative practice investigate the intersections of materiality, technology, design, and construction, with a focus on material reuse and the cultural implications of ubiquitous digitality in architectural production. Abrons has exhibited her work at prestigious events including the Venice Biennale and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and her writings have appeared in notable publications such as Log and MAS Context. Her current projects include constructions in Detroit and at the Hanover campus of Dartmouth College. Additionally, she has held teaching appointments at institutions such as Princeton University and UCLA, and has been recognized with numerous fellowships and awards, including the 2017 Adrian Smith Prize for the Ragdale Ring project. Abrons actively engages in community service as demonstrated by her role as a planning commissioner in Ann Arbor from 2019.
