Dr. Ellie Proussaloglou

Biography

Ellie Proussaloglou, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery specializing in Breast Surgical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her fellowship in Breast Surgery at Yale University and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brown University/Women & Infants Hospital RI. Ellie holds an MD from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, where she was recognized as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her clinical and research interests revolve around the patient experience in cancer care, particularly for young women at high risk for developing breast cancer. Proussaloglou's interdisciplinary training in breast and gynecological surgery enables her to provide comprehensive care that includes counseling on the impacts of cancer treatment on fertility and sexual health. She is passionate about addressing the financial implications of healthcare decisions that her patients face, focusing on the concept of financial toxicity particularly in BRCA carriers. Additionally, she has experience in advocacy and serves as the Legislative Chair for District 1 of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she works on behalf of patients with high-risk genetic mutations.
