Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Elliot Skierszkan. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Elliot Skierszkan is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Environmental Interdisciplinary Sciences at Carleton University. His research focuses on improving the understanding of contaminants in water to guide water resource management. He employs a combination of techniques such as aqueous isotope geochemistry, mineralogy, and hydrogeology to understand the processes that drive the release of potentially hazardous metals and metalloids into water resources. Current research themes include the impacts of climate change and thawing permafrost on northern water resources, as well as the hydrogeology and geochemistry of waste materials. His projects typically involve a field-based component and collaborations with partners from academia, government, and private industry, as well as Indigenous Nations. Through collaboration and land-based activities, he ensures that the knowledge produced from his research contributes to improved societal outcomes. When necessary, he conducts laboratory experiments to constrain the fate of contaminants in aqueous systems.
