Biography

Ellora Derenoncourt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Princeton University. She is a member of the Industrial Relations Section and focuses her research on labor economics, economic history, and the study of inequality. Her work investigates the northern backlash to the Great Migration and the ensuing declines in black upward mobility, as well as the role of federal minimum wage policy during the Civil Rights Era. Her research has been featured in prominent publications such as The Economist and The Wall Street Journal. Derenoncourt received her Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 2019, further demonstrating her expertise in the field. Prior to her doctorate, she obtained a Master of Science in Human Geography Research from the London School of Economics in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2009.
